Frequently Asked Questions

Visiting SUMMIT

How do I Get To SUMMIT?

The easiest way to get to SUMMIT is via our street entrance at 45 East 42nd Street. You will see a set of revolving glass doors next to a TD Bank. You may see the ‘SUMMIT’ decal on the windows. Go through the doors and make an immediate right down the stairs (note: DO NOT take the escalators or you will wind up in Grand Central Terminal) which will lead you to the SUMMIT lobby.

Where Do I Check IN?

At the Welcome Desk, located just inside the glass doors in the lobby. Please head directly there to check in; if any staff member stops you, please tell them that you’re picking up your tickets.

Is there a bathroom in the SUMMIT Lobby?

No, there is not a bathroom in the SUMMIT Lobby; all bathrooms are located upstairs in the attraction.

Do You Have A Coat Or Bag Check?

SUMMIT does NOT have a coat or bag check. Please make appropriate plans for anything and everything that you bring as you will be responsible for carrying and keeping all of your belongings.

I’m planning on proposing at SUMMIT - will the ring in my pocket set off any security alarms during screening?

No, our Mag Screeners are designed to look for very specific and large amounts of metal; rings WILL NOT set them off, and you do not run the risk of exposing the plan.

Dress Code

What should I Wear For My Photoshoot?

We highly recommend for all guests to wear some form of an elevated look- though how formal you’d like to go is your own personal choice. Remember- your gallery will only look as good as you do, so we recommend staying away from more casual looks like torn jeans, sneakers, flip flops, etc. For evening photoshoots, it’s best to wear bright colors that pop; we recommend staying away from wearing all black, as it tends to be blend into the background.

Are dresses ok to be worn?

Please keep in mind that nearly all surfaces at SUMMIT are made of mirrors- including the floor. While dresses are fine to be worn- please make certain to wear shorts/undergarments that would protect from any unwanted exposure.

What kinds of shoes are NOT permitted at SUMMIT?

Stiletto heels, soccer cleats and any other sharp heeled/soles are NOT permitted at SUMMIT.

Do we have to wear the shoe booties?

While all guest at SUMMIT are required to wear shoe booties in order to protect our mirrored floors, couples for the photoshoots have special permission to remove the booties for pictures, while stationary. Any time you move from one room to the next, we ask you to please replace the shoe bootie.

Bringing Items To SUMMIT

May I bring flowers to SUMMIT?

Yes, flowers must be in a bouquet form and will need to be carried. We will not admit vases or glass of any kind. Please note that Lilies are not permitted, due to their highly staining pollen.

May I bring props to the photoshoots?

While we typically do not allow outside props at SUMMIT, please inquire with the sales representative upon booking your photo package.

May I play music during my photoshoot?

SUMMIT was designed to be an immersive experience, which includes specific soundtracks that play in each room, setting the vibe and tone. Therefore, we do not allow outside music to be played, as not only would it distract other guests, it would also be quite difficult to hear over our speakers.

May I bring candy/chocolate and/or Champagne or Wine?

We do not allow any type of outside food or beverages to be brought to SUMMIT. A glass of champagne is included for the couple in each of the packages. Food and additional drinks may be purchased at Après, our café, on the 93rd floor.

May I bring rose petals?

While the thought of rose petals are lovely and romantic, the logistics of them provide an operational challenge for our staff, especially with other guests around so we do not allow petals.

May I bring candles or votives?

Unfortunately, neither are permitted.

Is it ok for me to incorporate my friends/family into the photoshoot?

It’s fine to have the photographer take a few shots of friends and family, but please keep in mind that they are contracted to deliver a gallery with the focus on the couple. Please do not inundate them with requests of shooting various family and friends combinations, as your shoot is only one hour.

Times Of The Day For My Photoshoot

May I book my photoshoot during sunset?

While we don’t recommend photoshoots during sunset, as it’s our absolute most populated time, we do allow them for a ‘sunset surcharge’ of $100. We highly recommend scheduling your shoot 30 minutes prior to the scheduled sunset, for the most optimal light.

I’d like to schedule my photoshoot for when SUMMIT is the least populated- when would that be?

Though we cannot ever guarantee that SUMMIT will be more or less populated, our lunch time slots during the week tend to be a bit more open (12:30 PM - 2:00 PM or so). Also, our later evening hours are much less populated and can make for a truly magical experience- from 9 pm on. If you are shooting on a weekend, please note that SUMMIT will be at full capacity.

After The Photoshoot

When the photographer is finished shooting us, can we stay at SUMMIT?

Of course- not only that, when the photographer is finished- you have the option to ask them to drop you back off on the 91st floor- at the beginning of the journey, so that you are able to experience SUMMIT in full context and at your own pace.

Is there a time limit as to how long I can stay at SUMMIT?

No, you’re welcome to stay as long as you’d like, but please note that you will not be able to re-access floors you’ve left, so make certain you’re completely finished with one floor before moving up to the next one.
